As Netflix continues to expand its offerings, its creators are looking to expand beyond the original series it launched with in 2015.
“We are very excited to be launching two new Netflix original series this year,” said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in a statement to the Wall Street Journal.
The new series are Riverdale and Narcos, both of which were first introduced to Netflix’s subscribers in 2016.
Netflix has a long list of original series to choose from, including the likes of The Walking Dead, House of Cards, and The Punisher.
While Netflix has not announced a season 1 premiere date for the series, the company has said it would release episodes “in the coming weeks.”
In the wake of the election, Netflix has been increasingly focused on developing original content.
Its original programming in 2016 included The Mindy Project, House M.D., and the critically acclaimed Black Mirror.
Since its launch in 2015, Netflix’s original programming has continued to grow, with episodes of Orange Is the New Black, Narcos: Season 2, and the upcoming season of Orange are the New Blood all available on Netflix.
